Quick 4 miler July 31, 2010

Today I had lunch plans with a friend, so I sneaked into the gym this morning for a quick 4 miler. My pace was pretty good for me, 44:12, which was a 11:03 pace, not my fastest, but definitely not my slowest. I am starting to find out that I often run faster outside as I can dictate my own speed than I do inside on a treadmill at a consistent pace. I would have thought the treadmill “helped” me go faster, but that is not the case.

Both of my cameras just ran out of batteries, ugh. Breakfast : 1 egg, 4 egg whites + nonfat latte

Lunch: 2 slices of pizza with an enormous salad consisting only of iceberg lettuce and cucumbers (salad bar had no veggies)

Snack: Awesome pb chocolate chip Larabar

Dinner: 4 oz. lean hamburger with 1 c. green beans

Gym workout tonight, I did legs and calves and threw in another 20 minutes of cardio.

Busy with a Capital B July 30, 2010

My morning started early with the standard egg, egg white + oatmeal breakfast. Soon after, I was off to my Auditing class, then home to begin studying for an online quiz. What I thought would take about 2 hours ended up taking all day, we are talking 7-8 hours worth of review, yuck. My intentions were to get to the gym sometime today, but since it is roughly 8 pm right now, I think I will just cut my losses and resume tomorrow for an early morning run.

Here are my meals for today, as you can see, 2/3 of the day I ate well, but the stress took over and I ventured out for fast food this evening. I ate the roast beef sandwich, half of the fries, and about 1/3 of the milkshake (I’m saving the rest for Ralph as a “surprise”).  Sometimes you just don’t feel like cooking and want greasy food. The great thing about is it that I don’t feel guilty and I am moving on, what is one meal in the grand scheme of things?

Does anyone else feel guilty after eating fast food?

Back to Normal July 27, 2010

Today was a regular Monday, I started my new super healthy clean eating program with 4 egg whites, 1 egg + 1/3 c. of oatmeal for breakfast. It is a lot of protein, but that it what I am going for. I tried the vegetarian thing for 7 months, but the lack of protein and increased carbs was just not working for me personally. Everyone has their own idea of what is healthy and their food preferences, I like to always try something new and see how it works for me in my attempt to balance everything out.

At around 10 am, I had my standard nonfat latte.

Lunch was a 4 oz. grilled chicken breast, 1/2 c of brown rice, and a cup of green beans.

I had a snack of 1 c. lowfat cottage cheese with 1/2 c. of carrots.

Dinner was 4 oz. of fish and a plain baked potato.

I worked out at night today and that included weight training with a chest workout, 15 min. on the elliptical, and a 30 min. jog on the treadmill.

Visitors from San Antonio July 25, 2010

These past 10 days or so have been a whirlwind for me. After my appt. in Nashville on the 15th, I felt very groggy from it for roughly two days, then my mom and little sisters came into town to visit from San Antonio, TX. I know I haven’t been keeping up with my blog, but we were extremely busy with sightseeing while I was still going to my summer classes and trying to fit in workouts, whew.

Everything is back to normal now and it’s just Aspen, Ralph and I. As of tomorrow, I am starting my new workout regime and eating plan, so we’ll see how it goes, :). I was able to get in some running and hit the gym 4 times while my family was here for their 10 day vacation, so I am not too out of the loop.

Long day in Nashville July 14, 2010

Without divulging too much personal information, we had an appt in Nashville this morning which I was so nervous for, I couldn’t really eat breakfast. I did end up eating a 1/2 c. of oatmeal though b/c I knew I was going to be given pain med.’s and didn’t want them on an empty stomach.

Once everything was over with though, I was drowsy and hungry, haha. We stopped by Taco Bell for 2 chicken soft tacos for me and then I proceeded to nap off and on the rest of the afternoon. I’m up now and warming up some spaghetti squash with snow peas and a peanut sauce for a light dinner. I’m still not very hungry, but should probably eat something b/c I need to take some antibiotics now and they shouldn’t be taken on an empty stomach.

Does anyone else have times when they are too nervous to eat?

I hope to get back to “normal” eating tomorrow, so I will keep you posted.

Couldn’t Wait for Breakfast July 13, 2010

The title of this post applies to today and yesterday, hehe.

Is it bad when you go to bed and can’t wait for breakfast the next morning? Breakfast consisted of 1 egg, 3 egg whites and a homemade non-fat latte (not pictured). I’m messing with my carb/pro/fat ratios, so my food in the upcoming weeks may not be exactly what I typically eat. Though I do run on a regular basis, I am going to start lifting 4-5 days a week as well in hopes of decreasing some body fat, so we will see.

I was out and about trying to get things done for my family to come visit on Thursday, so my food choices were basically just what I could get, I had no snacks on me. A girlfriend and I got southwest chicken salads from McDonalds for lunch minus the tortilla strips. I used just a smidge of dressing, so hopefully it wasn’t too bad for me, though I would have liked an entire chicken breast as opposed to three strips, come on, for almost $5? Dinner was her house as well and she ordered chinese takeout and I had some chicken dish with a tiny bit of fried rice. Though I didn’t eat much of the Chinese food, it still made me feel extremely full and weighed down.

Thinking I would be resting after that, I headed home just in time for a gym invite. I ended up going to the gym and doing tons of supersets for biceps and triceps and roughly 45 minutes of cardio. I was worried that since I was so full that I wouldn’t be able to do much at the gym, but I pushed through it and had a decent workout, :).

Busy Weekend July 12, 2010

The long weekend started off on Friday night with dinner with friends, or what was supposed to only be dinner, hehe. My friend’s husband was home for R & R (which is time off back in the states during a deployment). After dinner we ended up having some drinks and the night ended sometime around 1 am where I plunged into bed because I was exhausted.

**Saturday- 5 mile run in 56:13, 11:14~ pace. This was supposed to be an easy run, but I threw in some speed intervals to make it slightly more interesting. Saturday evening we went to an event in town called Jazz on the Lawn with some friends. It is held at Beachhaven Winery here in town and you basically bring some lawn chairs and a cooler and enjoy the “free” live music.

**Today- we took Aspen (our Malamute) on a long walk this morning and spent the rest of the day getting ready for my mom and little sisters to come visit this week. This is a very exciting week all-around, so Monday, bring it on, :).
