Decent Run August 13, 2010

After a long week of emotional ups and downs as well as finals, I hit the gym this morning. My half-marathon training called for 3 miles today, so I did a 10 min. warm-up, hit the weight room for some chest exercises and then did 3 miles on the treadmill in 32:48, which was a 10:56 pace. Today was supposed to be an easy run, so I kept it that way. We have a 6 miler tomorrow morning, so I wanted to “save myself” for that. I’m getting in the midst of half-marathon training and the long runs only get longer from here, hehe.

I ate pretty well today (no pictures though):

Breakfast: 1 egg, 4 egg whites; 1/2 c. oatmeal

Snack: protein bar

Lunch: 4 oz. of fish, 1/2 c. brown rice, 1 green bell pepper

Snack: multigrain ciabatta roll with butter spray with a chopped veggie salad(cucumbers, y& o bell pepper, red onion, avocado, iceberg lettuce)

Dinner: 4 oz. steak

I have plans tonight, so I may have something else a little later, but wanted to make sure I got some protein in.

I’m a bit nervous about my “long” run tomorrow, though I have done it before.

Does anyone else get nervous before their long runs?

After my light dinner, I was starving by the time I got home around 10:30, so I had a veggie chicken patty and a Fiberplus bar.


Quick 4 miler July 31, 2010

Today I had lunch plans with a friend, so I sneaked into the gym this morning for a quick 4 miler. My pace was pretty good for me, 44:12, which was a 11:03 pace, not my fastest, but definitely not my slowest. I am starting to find out that I often run faster outside as I can dictate my own speed than I do inside on a treadmill at a consistent pace. I would have thought the treadmill “helped” me go faster, but that is not the case.

Both of my cameras just ran out of batteries, ugh. Breakfast : 1 egg, 4 egg whites + nonfat latte

Lunch: 2 slices of pizza with an enormous salad consisting only of iceberg lettuce and cucumbers (salad bar had no veggies)

Snack: Awesome pb chocolate chip Larabar

Dinner: 4 oz. lean hamburger with 1 c. green beans

Gym workout tonight, I did legs and calves and threw in another 20 minutes of cardio.

Today was a regular Monday, I started my new super healthy clean eating program with 4 egg whites, 1 egg + 1/3 c. of oatmeal for breakfast. It is a lot of protein, but that it what I am going for. I tried the vegetarian thing for 7 months, but the lack of protein and increased carbs was just not working for me personally. Everyone has their own idea of what is healthy and their food preferences, I like to always try something new and see how it works for me in my attempt to balance everything out.

At around 10 am, I had my standard nonfat latte.

Lunch was a 4 oz. grilled chicken breast, 1/2 c of brown rice, and a cup of green beans.

I had a snack of 1 c. lowfat cottage cheese with 1/2 c. of carrots.

Dinner was 4 oz. of fish and a plain baked potato.

I worked out at night today and that included weight training with a chest workout, 15 min. on the elliptical, and a 30 min. jog on the treadmill.
